Cleaning a narrow-neck container using magnets
How to clean a jug, vase or a bottle with a narrow neck? With commonly available brushes, cleaning is impractical or even ineffective. Sometimes they don’t even fit through the bottle opening.
The solution is cleaning with magnets. The magic of magnetic power will help you with cleaning.
What do you need?
- two stronger magnets (we used a neodymium magnet, block, 20x20x5 mm and a magnetic hook, Ø 32 mm
ATTENTION: the magnet inserted in the bottle must fit through the narrow neck!
TIP: select the strength of the magnets according to the level of contamination of the container. The stronger the magnet, the more force the sponge can use to clean the inside of the container. - dish sponge
- scissors or utility knife for the sponge hole
- clamp for securing the magnet in the sponge
- ordinary dish detergent
- optional: piece of cloth to prevent the attraction of strong magnets from scratching the surface of the container
Cleaning procedure:
- Use scissors or a utility knife to make a hole in the dish sponge for the magnet.
- Insert the magnet into the sponge.
- Staple the hole to keep the magnet secure in the sponge during cleaning.
- Soak the inside of the container. Add detergent to the sponge and place it in the container.
- Wrap the second – a stronger magnet, ideally with a hook (to hold it comfortably during cleaning), in a piece of cloth. This prevents scratching the container surface while making it easier to move the magnet around the jug.
- Lift the container and attach the magnetic hook from the outside of the container to the sponge in the bottle.
- Magnetic force attracts the two magnets. Smooth movements of the external magnet (hook) on the surface of the container control the sponge in the bottle. This one cleans the container beautifully.
- Pull the sponge out when the container is clean (a cooking spoon reversed should help to pull it out). Finally, rinse the container clean.
