Pot magnets (also called magnetic mounts or round magnets) consist of a strong neodymium magnet housed in a steel cylinder. There is a screw hole in the centre of the magnet...
.
This steel pot protects the magnet from impact, contributes to the overall magnetism and shifts the entire force of the magnet to one side. Thanks to this, pot magnets have a greater adhesive force than ordinary magnets of the same dimensions. However, they have a smaller range into the distance and only attract from one side.
We also offer other types of pot magnets. As an alternative to pot magnets, you can also try classic neodymium magnets with hole, which have a longer range but less holding power and are easier to break on impact.

Is a magnet with a pot or without a pot better?
A pot magnet is more suitable if the attracted object will touch the magnet. With direct contact, the magnets in the pot have a better ratio of strength and price. A pot magnet is also a better choice if the magnet will be subject to impact. An ordinary magnet without a protective pot can break on impact.
If there will be a gap between the magnet and the attracted object (air, wood or other material), choose a magnet with a hole without a pot. A magnet without a pot is also better when you need it to attract objects from all sides, not just the front.
Magnetisation direction
All our pot magnets (magnetic mounts) have a north pole on the exposed side. Since like poles repel each other, if you put two pot magnets face down together, they will repel each other. If you need the magnets to attract each other, use a combination of a pot magnet + a steel counterpart. Since opposites are not magnets but contain iron, they are attracted to all magnets.
The strength mentioned for magnets needs to be exerted in order to tear a steel object at least as thick as the magnet away from the magnet. You must pull directly from the magnet (for example, when the magnet is screwed to the ceiling and the object is hanging on the magnet).
It is much easier to slide an object from a magnet than to pull it off directly. If the object is placed on its side (the magnet is screwed to the wall), the magnets will hold about a third of the stated weight.
If the attracted object is not made of pure steel or does not touch the magnet with its entire surface, the strength can be significantly lower. We recommend planning for a large margin and ordering stronger magnets.
